To equip students with the knowledge of industrial design, including the best practices and skills for careers in industrial design, engineering research and development and automotive engineering and technology.

Objective

This programme equips students with technically hands-on engineering skills and efficiency in communication, teamwork and leadership to fulfil the industry needs. It also demonstrates professionalism, social responsibility and entrepreneurship skills in all engineering practices and recognizes the need of lifelong learning for successful career development

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the programme, graduates will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge of mathematics, science and mechanical fundamentals in industrial design
  • Apply appropriate techniques, resources and workshop tools to industrial design activities
  • Design solutions for broadly-defined engineering technology problems, and to design systems, components or processes to meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, as well as cultural, societal, environmental and sustainability concerns
  • Plan and conduct experimental investigations of broadly-defined problems, using data from relevant sources
  • Select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering tools, with an understanding of their limitations
  • Function effectively as individuals, and as members or leaders in diverse technical teams
  • Communicate effectively with the engineering community and society at large
  • Demonstrate an awareness of safety, health and environment in engineering technology practices
  • Demonstrate professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of engineering technology practices
  • Demonstrate an awareness of management, business practices and entrepreneurship
  • Recognize the need for professional development and lifelong learning
Career Opportunities

Engineering technologist, industrial designer, product engineer, production engineer, quality engineer, project engineer and other related positions.

Entry Requirements
  • Pass Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) or equivalent with minimum Grade C (NGMP 2.0) in Mathematics and ONE (1) relevant Science subject; OR
  • Pass Diploma (Level 4,MQF) in Engineering/ Engineering Technology or its equivalent with minimum CGPA 2.0 and recognized by the Malaysian Government; OR
  • Pass Diploma (Level 4, MQF) in the field of Vocational and Technical/ Skills related and recognized with minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR
  • Pass Matriculation / Foundation program with minimum CGPA 2.00 from any HEP recognized by the Malaysian Government; OR
  • Diploma holder with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.50 shall entry onto the second year of study; OR
  • Pass in Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least a B grade in five (5) subjects; OR
  • GCE A-Level with minimum 2 Principal Passes at Grade C in Mathematics and ONE (1) relavant Science subject; OR
  • Other qualification that is approved by the University’s Senate.

AND

Lulus Sijil Vokasional dan Teknikal / Kemahiran yang setara dengan tahap 3 MQF dengan mendapat PNGK 2.00 dan 1 tahun pengalaman dalam bidang berkaitan atau 1 semester program pengukuhan

AND

English Language Requirements:

  • International students are required to achieve a minimum score of 5.0 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 500 or any equivalent qualification.
  • Local students must have qualification in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) with minimum Band 2; OR a minimum score of 5.0 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 500 or any equivalent qualification.
