The PhD in Engineering (By Research) programme is designed to enable the students to develop a deeper knowledge, understanding, capabilities and attitudes in Engineering and to contribute to knowledge specifically in the area of Engineering research.

The programme aims to:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of appropriate research techniques in Engineering
  • Develop competence in independent investigation and advanced research in Engineering
  • Make a significant original contribution to the development of new knowledge in Engineering
Objective

The objectives of the PhD Engineering (By Research) programme are as follows:

  • To develop a thorough understanding of classical and modern theories, methodologies, practices and their implications in the selected topic of research in the Engineering field
  • Enhance students’ experimental knowledge and analytical ability to solve current issues and problems in the relevant field of Engineering
  • To develop relevant skills of research and apply them efficiently and effectively to suit various types of societal needs
  • Keep abreast of current issues and innovative advancements in Engineering taking into account relevant commercial, ethical, social and legal issues
  • Publish the research for broader promulgation and application
  • To train students as the future leaders who are knowledgeable and competent in the chosen Engineering fields of study
  • Developing an indispensable thirst for research strengthening the technical skills to design, evaluate, implement, analyse, theorise and disseminate research that contributes to society

Entry Requirements

Master’s Degree in Engineering / Engineering Technology (Malaysia Qualifications Framework, MQF Level 7) with CGPA 3.0 or its equivalent from recognised University

OR

Master’s Science or Technology (non-engineering or engineering technology) Malaysian Qualifications

AND

Lulus Sijil Vokasional dan Teknikal / Kemahiran yang setara dengan tahap 3 MQF dengan mendapat PNGK 2.00 dan 1 tahun pengalaman dalam bidang berkaitan atau 1 semester program pengukuhan
