To equip students with the knowledge of automotive management systems, including the best practices and skills for careers in automotive management, services, repair and manufacturing.

Objective

This programme equips students with the knowledge of various automotive management systems including best practices and benchmarking for careers in automotive management, services, repair and manufacturing. It also emphasises on automotive management theory and practical applications, which are necessary for successful employment. Students are also to foster critical thinking, effective communication, problem-solving and innovative skills.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the programme, graduates will be able to:

  • Acquire and apply fundamental knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering related to automotive management systems
  • Apply appropriate techniques, resources and manufacturing tools to automotive manufacturing activities
  • Apply the fundamental of quality management concept in producing good quality product
  • Solve related problems using appropriate technology tools in automotive manufacturing industry
  • Apply continual improvement initiatives throughout automotive manufacturing plant
  • Acquire an appreciation of professional ethics, safety, health and environment in manufacturing industry
  • Demonstrate teamwork skills, and leadership through effective communication
  • Appreciate principles of management, business practises and entrepreneurship
  • Recognize the need for professional development and lifelong learning
Career Opportunities

Technical and supervisory positions as Assistant Engineer, Assistance Executive, Supervisor, Total Production Maintenance/HICOM Management Systems (TPM/HMS) Coordinator, Technician, and Laboratory Assistance.

Entry Requirements

New Entry Requirement:

Pass SPM or equivalent with at least three (3) credits in the following subjects:

  • Mathematics;
  • One (1) relevant science/ technical/ vocational subject; and
  • Any other subject
    AND
  • Pass in English

OR

Pass Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or its equivalent with a pass in Mathematics, English and one (1) relevant science / technical / vocational subject at the SPM level;

OR

Recognised Certificate in Engineering / Engineering Technology or its equivalent;

OR

Recognised related Vocational and Technical / Skills Certificate or its equivalent with one (1) year of relevant work experience or a minimum of one (1) semester of a bridging programme;

OR

Pass in Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least a B grade in three subject;

OR

Other qualification that is approved by the University’s Senate.

AND

For International students, Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 500 or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 5.0 OR its equivalent. If a student does not meet this requirement, HEPs shall offer an English proficiency courses to ensure that the student’s proficiency is sufficient to meet the needs of the programme. This is normally shall be conducted through an assessment process.
